2010 Regional Conference!
April 23rd-25th
Camp Kieve - Nobleboro,ME
From Mountains to Maine Street celebrates and explores the many aspects of experiential education.
Experiential education can be practiced anywhere! The limits of an experiential educator’s classroom are only bounded by the imagination. Whether your ‘classroom’ is deep in the heart of the wilderness, a public school, summer camp, corporate boardroom, or any place in between, we can enhance our teaching methods with experiential programming.
Despite where we teach, we all need to reach across boundaries and embrace a variety of experiences. We all have challenges in creating exciting learning opportunities for people, whether indoors or out. There is much to be shared between outdoor and classroom educators.
From Mountains to Maine Street also celebrates the powerful lessons our students can draw from experiential education. Lessons in leadership from a wilderness trip transfer to that student’s life well beyond the trip. Similarly, lessons learned through experiential programming in the classroom are used beyond the schoolhouse doors.
Challenge yourself throughout the conference to reach across boundaries and learn from others. We can all improve our practices to help students bring outdoor lessons in and indoor lessons out, whether your classroom is in the mountains or on Maine Street.
